Project:
Create an online summer reading module for veteran teachers that provides an introduction to the concepts of New Literacies and Global Learning
Purpose/rationale:
Share the "new" knowledge, strategies, and technololgies I have gained with other teachers; opportunity to take on a teacher leadership role by helping others "to shift understandings" just as the NLGL program has done for me
Curriculum connections:
NC Standard Course of study goals for 3rd-5th grades include strategic comprehension & expanding literacy through research and inquiry
NC Standard Course of Study goals for 6th-8th grades include applying comprehension strategies critically & strategically as well as critically analyzing print and non-print communication
